GTAW welding
Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)/Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) capabilities.
Fusion Welding Services
GTAW & Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding services for aerospace and defense applications.
Precision TIG welding finds application across diverse industries such as aerospace, medical, and automotive. The GTAW process is suitable for welding various materials because its tungsten alloy electrode does not melt during welding, allowing for welding as thin as 0.005-inch materials at low currents.
External filler materials, or welding wire/rod, are used and consumed during welding. Precision GTAW can be performed using DCEP (Direct Current Electro Positive) to focus on heating the electrode or DCEN (Direct Current Electro Negative) to heat the base material more. AC is typically employed for aluminum welding to aid in cleaning and prevent porosities and cracks. Inert gas, commonly Argon or sometimes Helium, shields the weld from contamination.
GTAW demands skilled welders due to its cleanliness and precision, making it ideal for critical applications like aerospace. It produces high-quality welds with excellent joint strength and appearance. Contamination is a potential concern, necessitating meticulously clean base and filler materials to avoid defects caused by moisture or impurities. Lynn Welding's team is extensively trained and experienced in delivering superior weld quality and consistently successful outcomes, highlighting GTAW as a premier welding process in their operations.
Lynn Welding is qualified to weld per AWS D17.1, PWA 16, MIL-STD-2219, HS 191 , and many other aerospace welding certifications.
